We are happy to announce the conclusion of what is considered to be the first part of the Tourism Innovation Academy project within the scope of “Innovative Tourism and Technology Development for Armenia” brought to you by the European Union’s EU4Business, Tourism Support Center, and Impact Hub Yerevan.
Over the course of the last few weeks, members of our team visited the three northern regions of Armenia (Lori, Shirak, Tavush), in order to conduct rigorous Idea Generation and Validation workshops with eager and interested participants who had innovative ideas for the tourism industry in Armenia!
Not only did participants dive deeper into the Idea Validation process, get acquainted with successful examples, learn about customer mapping tools and so much more, but they also had the opportunity to network with other aspiring changemakers in their field.
The turnout was impressive in all three locations. We were hosted by the UWC College in Dilijan, The Loft in Gyumri, and the Vanadzor Technology Center in Vanadzor. Participating teams were given the chance to strengthen their pitching skills, explore business canvas models, and collaborate in groups!
This eye-opening experience helped us all to get one step closer to our goal of pushing innovative tourism ideas forward. Helping us lead discussions and sharing informative presentations were our two main speakers, Suren Mkhitaryan and Arman Khachatryan.
With more than 8 years of experience in the field of social entrepreneurship, civil society, entrepreneurship education, and training others in the sphere of social entrepreneurship, Suren Mkhitaryan has the arsenal of experience our participants need to open their eyes to the possibilities their ideas actually hold.
For his part, Suren shared more about Idea Validation and covered everything from prototyping to validation methods.
Arman Khachatryan has over 10 years of project management experience spanning across the fields of sustainable development, renewable energy, community development, training, education, and more.
He is currently involved in managing IT projects internationally in sectors including education, tourism, web security, etc. During our Idea Generation and Validation Workshop, Arman shared his insight on the Idea Generation Process.
The past few weekends have been filled with learning and networking opportunities, and we are so grateful to have been able to learn about participants’ insightful proposals in more detail. We are confident that these fascinating and refreshing ideas are just what the tourism industry needs to take things to the next level.
It is with this same level of enthusiasm and excitement that we are preparing to help these participants plan for the next steps of the Tourism Innovation Academy within the scope of “The Innovative Tourism and Technology Development for Armenia” project!
There is a promising journey for the sphere of innovative tourism ahead, and we are pleased to play our part. Our next step will be the Tourism Startup Incubation Program!
